What George says about its sizing
In a 2023 trade-press feature, George described a lingerie range of 37 sizes, with bras starting from about £5. It said that because most of the shoppers it surveyed had never had a professional fitting, its in-house team built an online buying tool to help people find their size, and that customers should then be the same size across the George range.
That makes George a convenient place for everyday, inexpensive bras, provided you start from a size that suits you.
Find your starting size at home
- Measure your underbust snugly, directly under your bust, tape level. Round to the nearest even number. That is your band. Add nothing to it.
- Measure your bust around the fullest part, tape resting lightly.
- Subtract the band from the bust. Each inch is one cup: 1 is A, 2 is B, 3 is C, 4 is D, 5 is DD, 6 is E.
The UK bra size calculator does the sum in inches or centimetres. The full method is in how to measure your bra size.
If George's tool gives a different size
Size tools use different rules. If a tool's band is two or more inches bigger than your underbust measurement, it is probably adding inches, which tends to give a band that is too loose and a cup that is too small. Try both sizes and let the fit decide. The reasons are in why the +4 method is wrong.
How budget bras tend to fit
- Stretchier bands. Inexpensive bras often use softer elastic. A new one should be firm on the loosest hook. If it is not, try the band below with one cup letter up.
- Moulded cups. Many are T-shirt or padded styles. Fixed-shape cups suit some shapes and gape on others. See the T-shirt bra size guide.
- Multi-packs. Good value, and worth buying only after one bra from the pack has fitted.
Check the fit at home
Keep the tags on and try it as soon as it arrives or you get home.
- The band sits level and does not ride up at the back.
- After a scoop and swoop, nothing bulges over the cups.
- The centre panel sits against your breastbone.
- The wires rest on your ribs, not on breast tissue.
- The straps stay put without digging in.

When to look elsewhere
- Fuller cups worn every day. From around an E or F cup, seamed cups and firmer bands make a clear difference to comfort. See bra fitting for large busts.
- Small bands with larger cups, such as 30F. See small band, large cup bras.
- High-impact sport. Use the sports bra size calculator.

Frequently asked questions
Does Asda have a bra size calculator?
George at Asda has published an online buying tool to help customers find their bra size. It is Asda's own tool and is linked to its own range. You can use it, use our calculator, or both, and compare the results.
What sizes do George at Asda bras come in?
George has described its lingerie range as covering 37 sizes. The exact bands and cups differ from style to style, so check the size list on the product page or the size guide on the George website.
Are George bras the same size across the range?
George has said customers should be the same size across its range once they find their size. In practice, moulded, padded and non-wired styles fit differently on most bodies, so it is worth checking each new style on.
Can I get a bra fitting at Asda?
We have not found information on an in-store fitting service. Measure at home and use the fit checks on this page, or book a free fitting elsewhere if you want one in person.
