The extended size range
Primark's announcement described additional features in the extended sizes, including wider straps, more supportive bands and foam-moulded cups, across its main, youth and fuller-bust ranges. The headline range is wider than several mid-priced high-street retailers offer.
In practice, the sizes on the rail depend on the style and the store. The extremes of the range, small bands and larger cups, are the least likely to be in stock on any given day.
Finding your size without a fitter
- Measure at home. Underbust and bust, with a tape or a piece of string. See how to measure without a tape measure.
- Get your starting size from the calculator.
- Note the neighbouring sizes: one cup up, one cup down, and the sister size on the next band.
- Try on in store if you can, using the fitting checklist. If not, keep the receipt and tags and check the fit at home.
How budget bras fit
- Bands are often stretchier, so they can feel looser than the same size elsewhere and loosen sooner. Check that a new one is firm on the loosest hook. If it is not, try the band below with a cup letter up.
- Most are moulded or padded. Fixed-shape cups suit some shapes and gape on others. See the T-shirt bra size guide.
- Consistency varies between styles. Try each style on its own merits.
Where Primark is good value
- AA to D cups, where less engineering is needed
- Teen and first bras that will be outgrown
- Bras for a temporary stage, such as weight change
- Occasional-wear colours and styles
- Non-wired bras, bralettes and crop tops
Where to consider spending more
- Fuller cups worn every day. Seamed cups, firm bands and stronger wires make a difference to comfort that shows by the end of the day.
- High-impact sports bras.
- If a budget bra has stopped supporting you within a few months, a longer-lasting one may cost less per wear. See how much should a good bra cost?
Making them last
Rotate between at least three, wash cool in a mesh bag and never tumble dry. Replace when the tightest hook is no longer firm. See how to wash and dry bras.
Frequently asked questions
What bra sizes does Primark sell?
Primark has announced that it extended sizing across its most popular bra ranges to run from 28AA to 44H. Not every style is made in the full range, and stock varies by store.
Does Primark do bra fittings?
Primark has published an online sizing hub to help customers find their size. We are not aware of a general in-store fitting service, so measure at home before you go.
Are Primark bras good quality?
They are priced at the budget end, with lighter materials and simpler construction than specialist bras. For smaller cups and occasional wear they can be good value. For fuller cups and daily wear, expect them to lose their support sooner.
Can I try bras on in Primark?
Fitting-room availability varies by store. Check the returns policy before buying to try at home.
